The winery is located in the Bottelary district of Stellenbosch, Sterenbosch. The history of the vineyard dates back to 1704, when Christoffel Haazewinke, who owned the vineyard called Hazendal at that time, sold part of it to Jan Christoffel Bosm in the 1800s and began to call it Mooiplaas (meaning beautiful vineyard). Nicolas Roos took over the vineyard in 1963, and since 1981, his son Louis Roos has taken over the vineyard and released wines under the name “Mooiplaas."
